MOSLEY ATTENDS CHINA LAUNCH

The FIA president Max Mosley was a guest at the formal breaking of the ground on the site of the Shanghai International Circuit. Mosley confirmed that a deal would be signed this week guaranteeing the track a grand prix for six years starting in 2004. He said: "Formula 1 is the biggest annual global sporting event - and it has been my ambition since becoming FIA President, that Formula 1 should have a home in the worlds largest nation - that ambition will be realised in 2004 when the world of Formula 1 will arrive in Shanghai.

SCHUEY IS OVERPAID

In the latest episode of the escalating rift between the F1 supremo and Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo, Ecclestone has told the Italian to forget about being given a larger slice of the sport’s revenues. Di Montezemolo has allegedly demanded a 33 per cent increase in Ferrari’s income but Ecclestone is not interested in negotiating until the current Concorde Agreement expires in 2007.

JORDAN DENIES IRVINE TALKS

Eddie Jordan has insisted there is no truth in rumours that he is lining up Eddie Irvine for a return to Jordan. Jordan told an ITVF1 live chat that, contrary to press speculation, he had held no talks with Irvine, who is out of contract at Jaguar. Asked if there was any truth in the Irvine rumours, Jordan replied: "I have heard this and I have had no talk with Eddie whatsoever about this and I don't know how this rumour started". Jordan said that Takuma Sato was likely to partner Giancarlo Fisichella again in 2003 – but warned that he would have to bring new sponsorship into the team.
